Modern Nudist
Nudism is so misunderstood by society, Nudism today, isn't the mere act of shedding ones clothes, it’s a lifestyle
that millions enjoy every day. It’s a freedom from the so called "normal" lifestyle that society has decided
for us. We were born naked and society has decided for us that we need to cover ourselves in shame, we
were born with these beautiful bodies and each a true work of art. Feeling shame in ourselves is a thought
behaviour. I realized this when I had to keep picking up the clothes from my 5 year old as she didn't want to
keep them on, I knew to be accepted in society she needed to be clothed, or was it how people would
perceive me, if I let her run around naked?, hmmm but regardless I felt my duty to teach my child to
conform.....How sad that she was forced to conform to a lifestyle that is chosen for her and now I had to
teach my child that the body that I found so beautiful now would cause her to feel shame.
Each individual has their own reason for exploring the nudist lifestyle, whether it be the desire to feel the
freedom and one with nature, or the desire to express their reluctance to conform to the so called normal
behaviour just to feel a part of a group who share the same beliefs, but most feel a desire to break away
from society and what society expects of us.
Many have misconceptions of what thenudist/naturist lifestyle is all about and they may think that sexual
behaviour has to
be associated with nudism because it’s being thought by a society that thinks nudity equals sexual desire.
That's so far from the truth; nudism is a lifestyle free from the burdens of judgement of demands, of labels,
and shame.
Millions of dollars are spent each day on clothes and items to help us build our image to fit in with society
which is fine and accepted but as long as we keep in touch with the real individual under all the clothes,
after all we were born as individuals we don't need to find our image it’s already there under those designer
clothes/jeans and each a perfect work of art.
Some will try to believe that we are not all equal and that their body isn't perfect but the same society that
made us feel shame is the one that makes us judge others, and nudism doesn't fall prey to those beliefs,
the nudist lifestyle represents that we are all special and there is no shame in being in your natural flesh.
I have found since I have found nudity in my life that I'm more confident and I’ve learned to enjoy others for
who they are I don't get impressed by labels, and don't worry what the neighbour has or doesn't have, when
the clothes and barriers are left behind we are all the same and can express our ideas and inner selves
without judgement.
I hope that someday my daughter will find her way back to a time before I destroyed her confidence by
making her cover up and feel shame, I realize that in our everyday lives we need to be clothed but It
would be nice if at least once in a while people would leave the textile world behind and enjoy a visit to a
nudist resort or naturist camp to get back in touch with who they were.
